There is more than just one way to enjoy laid-back boho style in your home interior.
The chilled essence and natural spirit of boho can be combined with many other aesthetics to create a living space that’s more personal to your vibe. In this inspirational collection of interiors, we’re going to look at three sub styles of boho decor: Scandinavian Boho, where earthy bohemian character combines with simplicity and terrazzo elements; an easy breezy Mediterranean Boho home with layers of rattan, basket walls and swing chairs; plus a Modern Boho inspired apartment with a relaxed bohemian bedroom design to sleekly round off the set.

To kick off our trip through bohemian sub-styles, we land in a Scandinavian boho interior that was developed for a young family from Canberra. Four Scandinavian style chairs encircle a round dining table for relaxed family dinners.
The project brief called for a calming place where the homeowners could escape from the external hustle and bustle of the world, where they could process and reinvigorate. “A minute of silence before what awaits you”… or at least a favourite tune on the Marshall bluetooth speaker.
Subtle wall art brings a quiet moment of reflection.
A retro console table is decorated solid white accessories to maintain tranquility.
A rattan and wood lounge chair complements the console table’s natural aesthetic.
Boho dining room pendant lights pair up over the table to make a sizable statement out of smaller pieces. A mature indoor plant spreads its leaves–a must have for the nature loving bohemian spirit.
Over in the kitchen area, a black and white granite island is also utilised as a breakfast bar. A unique linear chandelier gives the small volume an eye-catching crown and a warm copper accent.
Wooden utensils and a beautiful modern fruit bowl add soft natural accents to the cool granite countertop of the kitchen island. Wood chopping boards and hanging utensils accessorise the prep space behind.
Stylish swivel bar stools combine timber and metal accents for an edgy, somewhat industrial touch. Decorative floor tiles add deep tactile pattern.
Rich stained wooden kitchen cabinets have been built into the wall to create a clean finish around an integrated oven.
A copper tap and matching sink complement the linear chandelier over the kitchen island. Open kitchen shelving combines the Scandi and bohemian aesthetics with earthy crockery and displayed grains.
Moving into the bedroom, we meet with more leafy green companions and beautiful wooden design elements. A timber platform bed and end of bed bench are matched by chunky bedside tables in the same tone.
An indoor plant softens the corner of the room.
Colour coordinated abstract art creates a moment of interest over the headboard, without demanding too much attention.
Beige bedroom pendant lights hang low over the small side tables to make neat pairings.
A tasseled rug softens the terrazzo floor.
A geometric bed throw ties in with the rug’s monochrome geo design.
Patio doors pour sunlight onto a comfortable reading chair and rattan magazine holder.
Out in the garden, an inviting hanging chair swings above the grass from the bough of an old tree.
Terrazzo flooring makes its way into the bathroom too, where it meets with a wall of geometric mosaic. Copper accents warm the ethereal white scheme
Bohemian style is all about connecting with nature and relaxed vibes, but let’s hope they pull those blinds when the toilet is in use.

Next up, Mediterranean boho. This sub-set of Mediterranean design goes all out with layered rattan, decorative baskets and natural timber furniture pieces.
The cosy proportions of the room have been completely ignored, and abundance embraced. Why use one pendant light where you can use two, or three, right?
A huge arch brings architectural interest to the narrow living room dining room combo, and makes an ideal home for the TV.
Indoor plants are dotted everywhere, growing an invigorating green accent throughout. Decorative baskets bring tonal interest to the dining room wall, which helps to zone it from the close quarters of the kitchen.
In the stunning bedroom design, a Macrame wall hanging creates an incredible headboard under another gorgeous arch.
An area rug extends the woven aesthetic to the floor. Chunky timber ceiling beams add a warm cocoon overhead.
A hanging chair looks out at blue Mediterranean views. Blue glass accessories colour open shelving and a stylish dressing table. A unique pouf adds delicate white pattern.

Finally, we finish off with Modern boho. The contemporary living space of this home is given character with timber square coffee tables and a mesmerising wall sconce design.
A wooden TV stand cuts into earthy brown storage cabinets, drawing focus to the timber ceiling beams that top the volume.
A breezy blue trim colours the dining pendant light, in homage to the blue-grey couch and blue chevron rug.
Modern bar stools sit in a sociable face-to-face arrangement across the kitchen peninsula.
Wood kitchen cabinets and wood flooring increase the visual warmth in the modern space.
Open shelving adds a simple decorative touch to the one wall kitchen with breakfast bar. A minimalist extractor chimney slices cleanly between.
Indoor plants gather a soft boho vibe on the enclosed balcony, next to a comfortable reading chair.
The boho spirit intensifies in the master bedroom, where a decorative rug creates a burnt orange focal wall. Spherical modern wall sconces brightly flank the wall hanging, whilst a wireframe bedroom pendant light adds light layering.
Indoor plants frame the window behind the bedside table.
A mix and match bed set creates tonal interest.
Tinted concrete creates an arty bathroom design.
In the children’s room, an apricot accent wall conjures a cosy atmosphere around a set of unique kids’ beds.
