Daring orange and blue decor elements pull together to style playful rooms in these
three modern apartments. The colour clash makes energised, characterful and joyous spaces for family time or for entertaining guests. These fresh blasts of fun don’t just stop at the living room either. The colour explosion fills striking orange and blue bedroom designs, modern colour blocked kitchen schemes, and powerful bathroom palettes. Cool, calming light grey accents, crisp white surrounds and warming woodtone balance out the combinations. We’ve included our suggestions for some eye catching orange and blue decor accents at the end of the gallery, to help achieve the look in your own interior too.

Located in Kyiv, Ukraine, this private apartment was developed for a single young woman in her mid-thirties who loves to entertain. A cool grey lounge creates a moment of calm at the centre of an open plan living space, held together by a light area rug. The peaceful arrangement is flanked on one side by saturated blue rooms, and loud orange drapes on the other.
The heavy orange drapes frame black framed windows and black window blinds. A light blue vertical radiator creates a colour break between the panes. The mirrored finish of a rectangle coffee table reflects the area rug design, almost as if the table weren’t there at all.
With such intense colour in the room, lightweight modern outdoor chairs are used to delicately round out the lounge. A blue accent cushion ties one of the Acapulco chairs in with the room’s blue painted woodwork.
A stylish modern floor lamp provides reading light in the corner.
A plant stand brings greenery to the dining area, which is arranged for entertaining up to six people. Oversized lighting and wall art create clear zoning over the black table and a mixed arrangement of dark chairs.
Solid blue decor engulfs the home entryway, A single wall sconce and freeform decorative wall mirror lighten the look.
Baby blue kitchen cabinets and a matching blue tile countertop interact with a white mosaic backsplash and floor. A single ruby red cabinet provides a pop of contrast.
At the start of the project, the homeowner and design team were moving towards a simple Scandi style interior, but bright colours were added along the way.
Curtains can be drawn between the kitchen and the dining area to hide away cooking mess during dinner parties.
A border of blue colour blocking wraps the master bedroom, which spills over onto skirting boards and colour matched closets. A unique bedroom pendant light hangs like a sleeping chrysalis over the bedside.

Our second tour is a fresh, geometric filled interior. A geo rug combines blue and orange elements on the floor, whilst colour blocked walls and wainscotting brighten the vertical plane.
More colour blocking arrives upon the TV wall, where an orange painted section becomes an interesting mount for modern art.
Retro style wooden furniture adds to the quirky nature of the room. A stack of coffee table books and a small glass vase top mismatched tables.
A dining bench slots into the tight space between the table and the side of the staircase. Shelving utilises a narrow nook under the stairs.
A botanical design makes a big feature out of a short wall around the dining area. Geometric floor tiles vie for attention in the adjacent kitchen, along with a brave orange kitchen run and aqua wall cabinets.
The kitchen is set up so that the host can continue to chat with guests over an orange kitchen peninsula.
A chrome chimney hood brings light reflection to the kitchen area.
Orange panels form a unique headboard in the master bedroom, behind contrasting blue bedside tables.
The bedside table lamp adds a black accent, which draws out darker tones from the botanical wallpaper.
A large vanity mirror draws the eye to a small makeup table, and a dressing area around the corner.
